The India Cements Ltd. acknowledges the significant greenhouse gas emissions associated with cement production and has initiated various projects to address this issue responsibly. With a legacy spanning 75 years in the cement industry and a reputation as a pioneer, we are fully aware of our role in fostering a positive impact on the climate and advancing towards a sustainable future.

Today, we are actively exploring avenues to enhance our commitment to sustainability by aligning with key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our sustainability efforts primarily revolve around reducing energy consumption and decarbonizing our operations. We prioritize initiatives such as green belt development, adoption of renewable energy, utilization of waste to energy generation, water conservation, and the promotion of a circular economy in our cement production process.

In addition to these initiatives, we are dedicated to modernizing and upgrading our technology to ensure energy-efficient cement production processes. We are in the project phase of cooler and burner upgrades at our factories in Dalavoi, Tamil Nadu, and Banswara, Rajasthan. Furthermore, we are planning to install a vertical roller mill (VRM) at our Sankari factory. These upgrades not only contribute to reduced energy consumption but also foster a more sustainable approach to cement production. Additionally, the VRM installation will lead to lower fly ash costs and enable the utilization of cheaper wet fly ash, thereby further promoting circular economy principles within our operations.

The India Cements Ltd., have recently committed to Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) as a responsible corporate in combating the climate crisis.
